Mechanical Designer

Full-time | On-site, Oak Creek, WI


Menet Aero, LLC, manufactures tethered unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). We are building a world-class aerospace manufacturing business with aggressive growth plans and are seeking a highly motivated candidate with mechanical design experience. 

The Mechanical Designer will be a part of a small but growing team focused on scaling up in a cutting-edge industry. This position requires an entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to successfully work in a team environment and interface with internal and external project team members, company personnel, and customers.

This position is key to the growth of Menet Aero. The ideal candidate is self-motivated and wants to grow beyond their previous design experiences. The best candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, be ready to take the initiative to solve problems, and will apply their design experiences to guide the next generation of product design, manufacture, and assembly. Aviation experience or interest (piloted or remotely piloted aircraft) is a plus.

Menet Aero’s tethered unmanned aircraft systems support many highly intelligent payloads for various applications, including telecommunications, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR), and live broadcast video feed. Menet Aero systems are used by the U.S. military, law enforcement agencies, and private industry by telecommunications and broadcast companies.

Reports to: Product Design & Development Manager

Position Responsibilities

  • Use CAD to create designs, assemblies, drawings, and work instructions
  • Prepare product and component specifications and design information to support manufacturability and quality
  • ​Help establish and maintain CAD documentation and controls
  • Design components for numerous manufacturing processes, including sheet metal, molding, CNC machining and 3D printing process
  • Maintain BOMs
  • Assist with organization and setup of manufacturing and assembly processes

Basic Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in mechanical design or engineering with or equivalent work experience
  • A minimum of two years of CAD experience using SolidWorks
  • Familiar with PDM, GD&T, DFM and DFA
  • Familiar with 3D printing processes
  • Proficient with Microsoft products
  • Good communication and organizational skills are a must

Physical Demands

  • Ability to work in an office and assembly environment (constant)
  • Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (frequent)
  • Operate equipment to aid in the loading and unloading of products and supplies (frequent)
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. and objects of varying sizes and shapes for shipment to and to set up in various training sites/customers (occasional)

Special Requirements

  • U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card holder)
  • Must have a clean driving record to drive company vehicles or company-rented vehicles
