Engineering Project Manager

Full-time | On-site, Oak Creek, WI

Menet Aero, LLC, develops, designs and manufactures tethered unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). We are building a world-class aerospace business with aggressive growth plans and are seeking a highly motivated candidate to serve as Engineering Project Manager.

The Engineering Project Manager will supervise and guide engineering staff, structure and lead projects, and drive improvement in product development and sustaining engineering processes This role will also support programs to develop in-house and contract manufacturing capabilities. The scope of the role includes the development and management engineering resources, schedules, budgets, 3rd party resources and will ensure cross company communications to facilitate project completion on schedule and within budget.

The Engineering Project Manager will interface with internal and external project team members, company personnel, and customers. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, excited about the UAS industry, and eager to grow. This person will take the initiative to identify and solve problems and use their experience to guide the next generation of product design, manufacture, and assembly. This position requires an entrepreneurial spirit, the ability to work as part of a team, and a willingness to move outside of their comfort zone to lend a hand to get the job done.

Menet Aero’s tethered unmanned aircraft systems support many highly intelligent payloads for various applications, including telecommunications, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR), and live broadcast video feed. Menet Aero systems are used by the U.S. military, law enforcement agencies, and private industry throughout the world.

Position Responsibilities

  • Develop and mentor engineering staff
  • Scope and lead product development and sustaining engineering projects
  • Establish priorities among mechanical and electronic engineering teams to ensure alignment and completion of projects on target, on time, and on budget
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives throughout the company
  • Oversee departmental and project budgets, schedules and resources
  • Manage and drive relationships with external resources including contract manufacturing and design and engineering
  • Work with engineers, designers and system integrators developing product hardware, software and testing requirements
  • Guide development and execution of test plans and test cases based on requirements
  • Participate in planning, design, testing, and deployment of moderately complex, engineered systems and software to ensure conformance with functional specifications and customer requirements
  • Support the establishment of quality assurance practices and ensure those practices are followed
  • Attend client meetings to keep teams informed and ensure internal resources are aligned
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Requirements 

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or similar field
  • Experience leading engineering teams
  • PMP Certification or project management experience preferred
  • Experience with SolidWorks (preferred) and engineering data management systems
  • Experience with MS Project or other project management software preferred
  • Aerospace industry and/or robotics automation experience preferred
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player in a diverse work group
  • Excellent communication, organizational, planning, problem-solving, and follow-up skills
  • Occasional travel required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in an office and assembly environment (constant)
  • Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (frequent)
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. and objects of varying sizes and shapes for shipment (occasional) 

Special Requirements

  • U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card holder)
  • Must have a clean driving record to drive company vehicles or company-rented vehicles
  • U.S. DoD Secret Clearance (or higher) preferred, or the ability to obtain such a clearance is required
