Electronics Engineer

Full-time | On-site, Oak Creek, WI

Menet Aero, LLC, manufactures tethered unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). We are building a world-class aerospace manufacturing business with aggressive growth plans and are seeking a highly motivated candidate.

The Electronics Engineer is expected to be a full-stack developer participating in the design, development, and programming of proprietary electronic circuitry used in our aircraft systems. They will develop requirements, create system design documentation, maintain analytical models, develop new models, and plan and conduct tests to validate requirements.

The Electronics Engineer will interface with internal and external project team members, company personnel, and customers. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, excited about our industry, and eager to grow. They will be ready to take the initiative to solve problems and use their experience to guide the next generation of product design, manufacture, and assembly.

This position requires an entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to work as part of a team. This position could be filled by a university student or recent grad, and we will provide on-the-job training and development to a motivated candidate who has a relevant educational background.

Menet Aero’s tethered unmanned aircraft systems support many highly intelligent payloads for various applications, including telecommunications, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR), and live broadcast video feed. Menet Aero systems are used by the U.S. military, law enforcement agencies, and private industry by telecommunications and broadcast companies.

Reports to: Product Design & Development Manager

Position Responsibilities

  • Work with designers and system integrators developing product hardware, software and testing requirements.
  • Develop electronic schematics and supporting design documentation.
  • Build and evaluate prototype hardware.
  • Design and develop multi-layer printed circuit boards.
  • Implement PWM, CAN, and I2C circuits for driving and monitoring local electronics.
  • Develop and implement high and low-voltage AC rectifiers and DC converters.
  • Design and implement local and remote network communication.
  • Develop test plans and test cases based on requirements and conduct testing.
  • Participate in planning, design, testing, and deployment of moderately complex, engineered systems and software to ensure conformance with functional specifications and customer requirements.
  • Improve current electronic systems making them more reliable and durable, including identifying and correcting performance issues that arise from testing or customer feedback.
  • Establish quality assurance practices and ensure those practices are adhered to.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Requirements 

  • BSEE or equivalent electronic design and software experience.
  • Experience with C++, Java and Python software development.
  • Experience with open-source hardware such as PIC, Arduino, Raspberry PI or Beagleboard.
  • Linux platform experience and basic shell scripting.
  • Basic knowledge of Flight Controllers and their associated sensors.
  • Experience with both high and low-voltage DC power systems preferred.
  • Aerospace industry and/or robotics automation experience preferred.
  • Hands-on experience designing and building electronic hardware.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience in some or all the following: Machine learning, Robotics Operating System (ROS), light detection and ranging (LiDAR), computer vision, simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM)
  • Experience building and flying Radio-Controlled (RC) aircraft is preferred.
  • FAA Part 107 certification preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player in a diverse work group.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, planning, problem-solving, and follow-up skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in an office and assembly environment (constant).
  • Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (frequent).
  • May operate dolly and/or pallet jack in loading and unloading supplies (occasional).
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. and objects of varying sizes and shapes for shipment (occasional). 

Special Requirements

  • U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card holder).
  • Must have a clean driving record to drive company vehicles or company-rented vehicles.
  • A U.S. DoD Secret Clearance (or higher) or the ability to obtain such a clearance if needed.
