General Assembler

Full-time | On-site, Oak Creek, WI

Menet Aero is a manufacturer of tethered unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). We are building a world-class aerospace manufacturing business with aggressive growth plans and are seeking a highly motivated General Assembler. The General Assembler will be a part of a small but growing team focused on scaling up in a cutting-edge industry.

The General Assembler has responsibilities associated with the assembly of various electrical and mechanical components of the tethered UAS (air vehicle and ground control unit) and repairs, performing a variety of fabrication, assembly and subassembly, circuit board soldering, harnessing, and solder termination operations utilizing assembly process procedures and engineering drawings. The work hours are 1st shift, generally 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Menet Aero’s tethered unmanned aircraft systems support many highly intelligent payloads for a range of applications, including telecommunications, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR), and live broadcast video feed. Menet Aero systems are used by the U.S. military, law enforcement agencies, and in private industry by telecommunications and broadcast companies.

Reports to: Product Design & Development Manager

Position Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and assemble wiring harnesses and sub-assemblies for air vehicles (AV) and ground control units (GCU)
  • Build aircraft and other system components using various assembly techniques
  • Create custom prototype models, parts, and assemblies using common hand tools, power tools, additive, and subtractive processes, painting, and finishing
  • Waterproof small electronic components
  • Quality test and troubleshoot sub-assemblies and final assemblies
  • QC incoming equipment from manufacturers
  • Provide input to systems designers and integrators to improve assembly efficiency, product quality, and reduce manufacturing costs
  • Validate released assembly and fabrication documentation
  • Execute repairs within skill level; escalate more complex issues and help accomplish repairs as needed
  • Upload firmware and parameter files to program electronics
  • Set up laptops and other user equipment
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Operate equipment to aid in the loading and unloading of products and supplies
  • Assist with the preparation of product shipment to training sites and customers
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent or sufficient combination of education, training, and experience; basic electronics coursework or schooling preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment, preferably in either electronics or electro-mechanical assembly
  • Basic soldiering skills; advanced soldering skills preferred
  • Understanding of basic circuitry, electronic components, and their functions
  • Familiarity with PCBs
  • Ability to interpret assembly instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form; ability to read blueprints and schematics preferred
  • Proficiency with hand tools, including crimpers, drills, taps, torque wrenches, power tools and air tools
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Fine manual dexterity skills
  • Basic computer operation skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Familiar with RC equipment preferred
  • Basic understanding of Mission Planner and/or Ardupilot based systems preferred

Physical Demands

  • Ability to work in an office and assembly environment (constant)
  • Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear and use hands and fingers to operate a computer (frequent)
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. and objects of varying sizes and shapes for shipment (occasional)
  • Travel between office locations to pick up and drop off supplies or attend meetings (occasional)

  • U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card holder)
  • Must be eligible to acquire and maintain a security clearance, if requested
